Sexual Health Commissioning Strategy 2010-2013
NHS Manchester has produced a strategy which sets out its commissioning priorities for sexual health services over the next three years. By sexual health services, we mean all of the following:
- Contraception and sexual health services
- Genitourinary Medicine Clinics
- Primary care (including GPs and pharmacies)
- Abortion services
- Chlamydia screening
- HIV testing, treatment and care
- Sexual health promotion and HIV prevention
- Teenage pregnancy prevention
We believe that sexual health is not only about disease or infection but also about promoting positive sexual health and well being. As well as improving the sexual health of the city as a whole, we are committed to reducing the inequalities in sexual health that exist between the general population and vulnerable and socially disadvantaged groups.
The strategy describes where we are now as a city in terms of sexual health and what steps we will take over the next three years to meet the needs of our communities.
