Infection Control
The Community Infection Control Team:
The Community Infection Control Team (CICT) work citywide across the health economy of Manchester. Working in partnership with primary care services, hospital trusts, statutory and independent care agencies to prevent and reduce communicable diseases, healthcare associated infections and vaccine preventable diseases.
The following summarises the key roles and responsibilities of the CICT:
- Advice on the implementation of national infection control initiatives
- Provision of clinical advise to primary care professionals in the prevention and reduction of communicable diseases, healthcare-associated infections, immunisation and decontamination
- Develop and maintain safe effective infection control policy and guidance documents
- Coordinate the national immunisation programme
- Provide an infection control training programme
- Provide an immunisation training programme
- Support the development and implementation of the infection control and immunisation audit programme
- Provide clinical advice on the design/refurbishment of clinical premises
- Advise on the procurement of products
- Advise on the development of new services in line with national directives or local need
- Support research programmes
