Breast Screening
The Greater Manchester Breast Screening Programme
The Greater Manchester Breast Screening Programme is part of the National Breast Screening Programme and is one of the largest screening breast screening services in England.
The programme aims to provide and promote an efficient and effective, high quality breast screening service, to all eligible women within a caring environment.
Breast screening aims to find breast cancer at an early stage, often before there are any symptoms. To do this, an x-ray is taken of each breast (mammogram). Early detection may often mean simpler and more successful treatment.
For further information about breast screening including how to change an appointment and ‘how to be breast aware’, please read the Manchester Breast Screening Service information leaflet, or visit the Greater Manchester Breast Screening Programme website or Telephone: 0161 291 4444.
Please note the PALS contact number in the information leaflet above has changed to Freephone 0800 015 1462. More information on the PALS service is available here.
